The Crypt Residency 2020: Pietro Bardini

January 10-4:00 pm - January 13-7:00 pm

The Crypt Residency 10-13 January 2020 Pietro Bardini

The residency will be open to the public:
Friday 10 Jan: 4-7pm
Saturday 11 Jan: 1-5pm
Sunday 12 Jan: 1-5pm
Monday 13: 12-3pm with Listening sessions from 6:30pm

This residency is an exploration of the gallery’s acoustic architecture and aims to investigate how sounds affect the perception of space. Pietro will be developing a site-specific multi-channel composition exploiting the natural silences and reverberations of the crypt. Several satellite speakers will be placed strategically around the gallery with a master speaker positioned centrally. The composition will develop with inner and outer movements from the master towards the satellites and vice versa.

You are invited to enter the space, experience its acoustics and get an insight into the creative process. Pietro is a composer and multimedia artist working with sounds, installations and performances. He is an alumna of Barbican Young Visual Arts Group (2018) and Barbican Design Yourself (2019), and Co-founder of Concrete Assembly. Pietro is an award nominated composer for TV (MCPS Production Awards ‘18) and he works with leading music production libraries such as FELT Music, String and Tins, Finger Music, Narrative Mind and Goldestein. Pietro also hosts Breakfast On The Grass, a monthly radio show about Italian library music on Soho Radio.
