SUMMARY:Echoes x Perspectives - In collaboration with Serpentine.iii
DESCRIPTION:Friday 17 July 2026\, 5 - 8:30pm\nAs the event takes the form of a gallery installation\, visitors may arrive at any point during the times shown.\n\nTickets: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/echoes-x-perspectives-tickets-1991777856185?aff=oddtdtcreator \n\nJoin Echoes x Perspectives in a live installation of music\, dance and visuals examining how borders shape personal and creative identities.\n\nThis project is inspired by breaking down barriers; firstly between artistic disciplines\, and secondly between the artists and the audience. In doing so\, we invite the audience to enter into a space of dialogue\, exploring how art as an expressive medium can drive change in the world around us.\nWith interdisciplinary collaboration at its heart\, the project will be a live experimentation between electronic and acoustic musicians\, dancers\, performance and visual artists. As visitors engage with the project\, each will not only experience the performance through their own lens\, but also contribute their own story to the discussion\, provoking a sharing of perspectives and a possibility for consensus.\n\nin collaboration with serpentine.iii\n\n

SUMMARY:PLASTIC CONTROL II
DESCRIPTION:Opening dates and times:\n8-13 September\, open 11-5 daily.\n\nPV date and time:\n10 September 5-8\n\nArtist Website:\nwww.williamlakin.com\n\nStatement:\nPLASTIC CONTROL II is part of an on-going and interdisciplinary research project by artist and post-graduate researcher\, William Lakin on the subject of online conspiracy theory communities. The works in this show consist of photography\, text\, sculpture and interactive pieces and centre around the storytelling and world-building practices of online conspiracy theory communities\n\nConspiracy theories are both familiar and absurd; they recycle well-established conspiracy tropes and at the same time adapt to new information and circumstances. They morph and mould to the shape and size of our concerns\, they mirror\, but they distort. The product is a kind of cultural residue; an incidental and incoherent cocktail of fiction\, history and entertainment.\n\nThe works in this exhibition are a response to the nature of conspiracy communications and invites the viewer to narrativise; to interpret the works and to consider the relationship between storytelling and meaning-making typical of social interactions but which\, in our heavily networked and algorithmically-curated online spaces\, takes on new significance and leads to unexpected consequences.
