Witness the sight and sound of 200 borindos, small clay wind instruments made by master potter Allahjurio from the earth of the Sindh region of Pakistan. The borindos in the installation respond live to the sounds of the gallery space, field recordings from Sindh, and the music of Faqir Zulfiqar playing the instrument. ‘Microtonal’ is a collaboration between Faqir Zulfiqar, Allahjurio and Invisible Flock, and was originally commissioned by Karachi Biennale with support from the British Council Pakistan. The Gallery is reached by going down steps with a handrail; there is no ramp or lift, and the floor in the Crypt is uneven.

This installation is part of Land Body Ecologies Festival, being held at Wellcome Collection between 22–25 June. The festival will explore the deep connections between mental health and ecosystem. The programme is created by global transdisciplinary research network Land Body Ecologies, from teams across India, Uganda, Kenya, Thailand, the UK and the Arctic. The Land Body Ecologies Festival is produced by Unbox Cultural Futures and Invisible Flock.
