Lumen Residency 2017 Exhibition
January 19-12:00 pm - January 21-6:00 pm
19-21 January 2018
Private View: 19 January 6-9pm
See the work of over 25 artists from around the world, who were selected for this year’s Lumen residency in Atina, Italy. Selected artists showcase work inspired by the natural darkness, beauty and astronomical sights experienced during the 4th annual residency. The residents and exhibition have been curated by Louise Beer, Melanie King, Rebecca Huxley and Natasha Sabatini.
This two-week residency was set up to help like-minded artists from multi-disciplines develop their practice in a relaxed, yet productive environment. The peaceful village of Atina, situated 154km from Rome in the province of Frosinone-Lazio, is a great spot for viewing the Moon, stars and meteor showers. Staying on site, artists have the opportunity to create works responding to the variety of astronomical sights found there.
Artists benefitted from a large studio space, telescope access, a basic darkroom and visits to Campo Cassino Observatory, Montecassino Abbey, Santa Maria Assunta and CAMUSAC Gallery.
