CRYPT RESIDENCY 2026: Maurice Andresen

Maurice Andresen presents Object Agency, an ongoing, ever-growing project that revolves around a fictional government agency which maintains equilibrium between the corporeal and the ethereal. In its current form, the project takes shape as an interactive video game world.

The project’s inception took the form of exhibitions, club nights and ritual workshops based around virtual recreations of derelict, disused and under-appreciated urban environments in Glasgow. Filling these virtual approximations with digital creatures and creating lore around their purpose aimed to give them a new lease of life.

During my Crypt Gallery residency, visitors will be able to observe the inner workings of the project, get an insight into the process of building virtual environments, and be able to interact with the work in its current state (i.e. playing the game).

I will use the time at the gallery to begin building an environment that is modelled after the gallery space by digitising textures, scanning the room and using procedural toolsets to re-build it into an active part of the world of Object Agency, letting the inhabitants of my virtual world explore the newly created space.
