CRYPT RESIDENCY 2025: LEON CLOWES

Absent Fathers” is an open invitation for visitors to speak with artist Leon Clowes about their experiences of paternal absence – in whatever shape or form that absence has taken. Over three days in The Crypt Gallery, leon will be developing an evolving installation using his and his mother’s diaries, alongside family archive materials, to imagine and reconstruct the presence of his own absent father.

Through conversation, shared experience, and collective contribution, this R&D residency explores the liminal space of loss and paternity – seeking points of connection, resonance, and exchange.

Visitors are welcome to drop in any time between 10am and 6pm, Wednesday 21st to Friday 23rd May.
