Affxwrks presents In The Que: Celebrating the Que Club
Private View:
30 November: 6.30pm-9.30pm
Open to public:
1 – 4 December: 12pm – 6pm

Operating from 1989 – 2017, The Que Club hosted global superstars such as David Bowie and Blur but it was better known as the centre of the city’s dance and rave culture, home to legendary nights such as Atomic Jam, Flashback, House of God and The Bubble Club. It was also where BBC Radio One would host their Essential Mix nights with global DJs. Carl Cox, David Holmes, Mistress Mo, Paul Oakenfold, Rebekah, Surgeon, Pete Tong and Andy Weatherall all played at the Que and Daft Punk’s ‘Live’ LP was even recorded there in 1997.
The cultural significance of the venue, and the club nights that took place there, have never been thoroughly captured, documented or celebrated. Until now! We’ve interviewed the DJs, promoters, musicians, staff and audience members who went to the Que Club, and scanned old photographs, flyers, posters, ticket stubs and any materials associated with the venue, bringing them all together to reveal the stories and uncover the history and heritage of the iconic Que Club, located in the much loved, Grade II* Listed, Methodist Central Hall.
In The Que, a film and exhibition by Pretty Hate Productions and the Birmingham Music Archive , supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to National Lottery players.
