DESCRIPTION:20-23 August 2026\nGallery open 1-5pm daily\n\nMaurice Andresen presents Object Agency\, an ongoing\, ever-growing project that revolves around a fictional government agency which maintains equilibrium between the corporeal and the ethereal. In its current form\, the project takes shape as an interactive video game world.\n\n \n\nThe project’s inception took the form of exhibitions\, club nights and ritual workshops based around virtual recreations of derelict\, disused and under-appreciated urban environments in Glasgow. Filling these virtual approximations with digital creatures and creating lore around their purpose aimed to give them a new lease of life.\n\n \n\nDuring my Crypt Gallery residency\, visitors will be able to observe the inner workings of the project\, get an insight into the process of building virtual environments\, and be able to interact with the work in its current state (i.e. playing the game).\n\n \n\nI will use the time at the gallery to begin building an environment that is modelled after the gallery space by digitising textures\, scanning the room and using procedural toolsets to re-build it into an active part of the world of Object Agency\, letting the inhabitants of my virtual world explore the newly created space.

DESCRIPTION:20-23 August 2026\nGallery open 1-5pm daily\n\nInstagram: @francisolvezwilshawartist\n\nWebsite: www.francisolvez-wilshaw.com\n\nDuring my residency at the Crypt Gallery\, I will explore the relationship between sound\, moving image and the architecture of the crypt. My practice is concerned with memory\, ritual\, labour\, power\, environmental catastrophe within the complexities of my mixed Filipino–English identity. Often bringing personal experience\, cultural histories and contrasting environments into dialogue.\n\nI will develop a new video collage using Super 8 footage filmed during my most recent visit to my mother’s village in the Philippines\, alongside photographs I took during the trip and selected found footage. The video will be developed in dialogue with an existing sound collage incorporating bamboo drum patterns derived from the Filipino tinikling dance\, recorded intentionally to be heavier and more industrial\, alongside recordings from religious fiestas\, conversations in Cebuano and karaoke. Together\, these elements bring rural and domestic experiences of the Philippines into dialogue with ideas of ritual\, labour\, memory and cultural inheritance.\n\nI will project the video throughout the Crypt\, allowing the footage to move across its different walls\, surfaces and architectural features. I am interested in how the imagery can fragment\, overlap and shift as it encounters the space\, rather than existing as a fixed screen-based work. The Crypt’s subterranean architecture\, low light and historical relationship to ritual and worship provide an active environment for testing these relationships between image\, sound\, material and space.\n\n

DESCRIPTION:CRYPT RESIDENCY 2026\nÖzgül Arslan & Gözde Altun\nSite-Specific: A State of Becoming\n\n20-23 August 2026\nGallery open 1-5pm daily\n\nDuring the residency at The Crypt Gallery\, artist Özgül Arslan and curator Gözde Altun will work together to develop a site-specific project shaped by the space itself. Through ongoing dialogue\, observation and experimentation\, they will explore how the gallery’s architecture\, light\, airflow\, surfaces and atmosphere can become part of the creative process.\n\nArslan will work with large scale paper and burnt wood dust\, exploring the relationship between material\, body\, atmosphere and space. Through a performative process\, the dust will settle\, move and disperse across the paper in response to the artist’s movements and the changing conditions of the gallery.\n\nThe paper works will be installed as open\, permeable forms that respond to air\, movement and the presence of visitors. Rather than creating a fixed object\, the project explores transformation\, memory\, traces and states of becoming.\n\nThe residency will form the starting point for Arslan and Altun’s continuing collaboration\, informing the development of the project towards its final exhibition at The Crypt Gallery.\n\nOzgulArslan - website\n\nOzgulArslan - instagram\n\nGozdeAltun-instagram\n\n
