There are clear parallels between this hidden\, confined space and the act of motherhood and caregiving—both nurturing and sheltering while maintaining a sense of enclosure and restriction.\n\nDuring  my residency\, I will explore the architectural corners of the space and how they limit and direct light and movement.\n\nUsing the dark quality of the Crypt and its humidity I will be working with porcelain\, photography and drawing.\n\nWith the porcelain I will make tiles which in a wet state will react to the dampness environment curving and distorting\, once the residency is finished I will fire them and they will become the support in which I will print the results of the images created by the pinhole cameras installed in or out of the building.\n\nI will use camera-less and digital photography to record the changes using long exposure techniques which produce drawing-like marks on the photographic paper.\n\nPinhole cameras will be used to reveal any light changes produced by the movement of my own body and the public’s and outside\, which I will later merge in the final pieces to dissolve the public space from the private.\nDuring my stay a 2’ video will be projected on one wall\, which I will try to capture in a drawing.\n\nCRYPT RESIDENCIES\nIf you are interested in running a Crypt Residency or hiring the Crypt Gallery please email info@cryptgallery.org.uk
