DESCRIPTION:\nOpening times: \n23-27 March: 11-5pm\nPrivate View: 22 of March 6:30 until 9pm (tickets not necessary)\nPLEASE NOTE: This is a ticketed exhibition \n£7\nLink for tickets\n\n\n\nInternational Body of Art are excited to announce their first exhibition of 2024\, 'In Pursuit of\nSome Phantom'. This exhibition acts as the first chapter of a three-part installment that will\ncontinue throughout the year\, with each exhibition adding to an exploration of temporality\nand its ties to the condition of being within our present world.\n\nLending its title from a quote in Marcel Proust's 'In search of Lost Time'\, this exhibition sets\nout to investigate Time as a subjective experience\, one entangled with personal\, political\,\nand religious thought. Through the lens of twenty-one artists from around world\, we aim to\nbring a wide variety of cultural perspectives\, paying homage to the preservation of different\nmodes of being\, each distinct from the traditional Western notion of linearity.\n\nIn Western thought\, Time has been bound by rigid constraints\, such that it may only move\nupon a straight line\, ticking away in staccato fashion on a steady road to progression. Yet\nTime in this manner takes on a bulldozing persona\, where differing ideologies\, or ways of\nrelating to the world\, are diminished\, cast outside of the paradigms of this fine line. The idea\nthat the path that we are on is the path that must continue (conceptually and physically) is\none rooted in colonial thought\, and one that ought to be regularly interrogated.\n\nApproaching the topic from IBA's characteristic trans-disciplinary approach\, the exhibition\nwill include elements of visual art\, alongside sound\, scent\, taste\, and touch. Throughout the\nshow we hope to present space to be creative about your most intuitive experiences. To\ndive into the past and throw it into the future\, to look into yourself and to know that you\nare looking\, to feel time passing and to experience time passed\, to Search For Some\nPhantom\, and to shake hands with it too.\n\n\n
